Homeowners can achieve a real sense of satisfaction by growing the fruit and vegetables they cook in their kitchens, Amateur Gardening Magazine has said.Marc Rosenberg, news editor at the publication, noted that there has been a huge increase in grow your own among homeowners in recent years, partly fuelled by the recession and partly because people are more cautious of where their food comes from.His observations came as a study by Mintel revealed that one in five UK consumers now grow their own fruit and vegetables.According to the report, modern city dwellers have a growing love of gardening which has coincided with a rising demand for fresh, organic produce.To grow vegetables which you can harvest and enjoy with your family is a great benefit and people enjoy getting out there and actually nurturing something for a bit and to see it right through to their plate, said Mr Rosenberg.Last week, meanwhile, US-based home renovator Matt Lederer claimed that the kitchen sink is more of a focal point than people realise because it stands out as an eye-catching fixture in the room.
