Britons who used the recent bank holiday weekend to make over their kitchens may want to heed the advice of one insurer about leaving pets alone at home.According to Sainsburys Finance, over 800,000 of the UKs dogs are left alone for more than eight hours a day.But this is leading pets to develop separation anxiety and behaviour including scratching walls, windows and doors in the kitchen and chewing on furniture.Dogs are highly sociable animals who crave the affection of their owners and can find being home alone distressing, stated Joanne Mallon, Sainsburys Pet Insurance manager. And 1.3 million homeowners admit they have left their pooch for more than a day without someone checking up on them.People with dogs may want to take action to prevent their kitchen DIY efforts being jeopordised by a nervous pet.Halifax General Insurance previously revealed that around 6,300 is spent by Britons who give their kitchens a makeover.
