The architecture industry is in the throes of a green revolution, meaning a prospective upsurge in environmentally-friendly home design, it has been claimed. The 2007 Green Index survey from design software manufacturer Autodesk showed that by 2012 as many as 90 per cent of architects would be incorporating some sustainable elements into their plans.Around 350 practising architects were questioned for the index on their use of a range of 14 green design practices, five years ago, over the last 12 months, and what they expected to be doing in five years time with the 90 per cent future figure way on todays 30 per cent who implement green design elements. With such an upsurge in environmentally-friendly design expected, the impetus for change was said to have come from clients themselves, with 70 per cent of architects claiming that prospective homeowners wanted higher energy efficiency in the kitchen and elsewhere. In response to the new demands, architects were planning changes including increased use of sustainable high-efficiency HVAC ventilation systems, recycled building materials and the consultation of the latest software for modelling energy usage.People taking green home design into their own hands are already carrying out a host of changes to UK homes, with the most ambitious looking into home micro-generation facilities and others seeking simple and effective waste reduction products, such as In-Sink-Erators range of sink waste disposal units.ADNFCR-1321-ID-18356609-ADNFCR
