Granite countertops an ongoing trend

Granite countertops around the kitchen sink are a trend that continues to be popular, one expert has claimed. Barry Noora, US-based kitchen design specialist, noted that food-preparation areas are increasingly becoming congregation spaces where families and friends entertain, communicate and celebrate, the Greater Lansing Business Monthly reports. However, despite changing attitudes some design choices remain in style for a number of years, with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances being an ongoing preference for homeowners, he added. Other characteristics that are fashionable include the use of varied colours and textures in the kitchen, as well as under-counter lighting, Mr Noora explained. People who are not able to afford granite were advised that some lower-cost alternatives, like laminate, can look remarkably similar. Whatever is currently in style, he said, nothing replaces quality. Writing for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Tammy Joyner recently stated that many individuals are beginning to open up to more cost-effective work-surface materials.
