Government initiative urges wider kitchen recycling

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

A new drive to encourage recycling of electrical kitchen goods over the Christmas period has been launched by the government. The Department for Business and the Waste and Resources Action Programme (Wrap) have joined forces to highlight the value of proper disposal of items which are often forgotten about when it comes to the weekly recycling run.Small electrical items such as kitchen appliances and gadgets can be recycled at a number of centres across the country and the government is aiming to get kitchen users to think more carefully about what they throw away this holiday season.Business and economic minister Ian Pearson praised the campaign, saying With over 154 million small electrical products bought in the UK last year alone, theres a huge opportunity to increase the recycling rates for unwanted goods, particularly in the run up to Christmas. This campaign will be an important factor in raising the consumer awareness needed to lift collection levels and reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.Environmental impact can be lessened throughout the year in the kitchen with a good choice of fixtures and fittings. Items such as the hot water filter tap from leading manufacturer In-Sink-Erator will deliver filtered 98-degree hot water on-demand, potentially lowering the amount that might be wasted by using an external filter jug or a kettle.ADNFCR-1321-ID-18924841-ADNFCR
