Going green in the kitchen is easier than Brits think

Designing a kitchen to be green is not a job for just the wealthy and tree huggers, it has been suggested.Writing for the Guardian, Dick Strawbridge, BBC TV presenter and green home expert, said many Britons think that making a home environmentally friendly is a task they cannot complete. Many believe that going green in rooms such as the kitchen can be too expensive. But Mr Strawbridge stated that he is out to dispel the myths that many homeowners have about energy-efficient properties. One such myth is that greening up a home costs more than it is worth. But a DIY solar thermal system to heat hot water for the kitchen tap should pay for itself within four years, he claimed.Mr Stawbridge said that it is common knowledge that a new kitchen makes a house more saleable, but in the current economic climate, how much more saleable is a house that will cost the new owners very little to run or may even generate an income?.Homeowners are currently investing in kitchen upgrades to boost the value of their property, HomeServe recently said.
