Giant Gromit Is UnBALievable

A rather unusual art exhibition has set up shop in Bristol over recent weeks, and its pretty clear to see that it has a certain theme: Gromit. Forwarded by Wallace & Gromits Grand Appeal and Aardman Animations, the rather aptly named Gromit Unleashed exhibition is a brilliant fund raising scheme which everyone can enjoy. Acclaimed artists are invited to decorate giant sculptures of one of Britains favourite dogs, proudly displaying them in and around Bristol. After the exhibition ends on September 8th, the masterpieces will be auctioned to raise money for the Grand Appeal, Bristols very own Childrens Hospital Charity. One such acclaimed artist is Julie Vernon, who has created a Gromit sculpture that is definitely eye catching, a Giant Golden Gromit. Being a mosaicist (a person who makes art out of tiles) Julie required rather a lot of glue, and the people over at BAL were more than happy to help. Julie expressed her thanks, saying: "This was my first time working on a fibreglass base, so I needed to consult the experts on the right adhesive to fix the materials. BAL was an obvious choice for me as I have used their products before and know that they have a good Technical Advisory Service. She went on to say: "The guys at BAL were really excited about the project. They usually deal with builders, not artists, so this was something a bit different. Then, when they heard that the sculpture was going to be auctioned for the Wallace and Gromit Grand Appeal charity, Bristol Childrens Hospital, they kindly offered to donate the adhesive and deliver it too. Fantastic!" Dave Wilson, head of BALs Technical Advisory Service also quoted: "I have been helping tilers for more than 25 years. Between us, the team has well over a century of experience and there are not many questions that we have never heard before. But, we have to confess, How do I tile a five-foot fibreglass dog? was a new one." With less than a month to go now before the exhibition draws to a close, now is the time to take a trip to Bristol have a gander at some Gromits!
