Galley kitchen turned into a functional family room

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

A couple have shown how they were able to optimise the limited space in their kitchen by using open shelves and a breakfast bar.Ana McDonald and Marcus Ringrose showed the New Zealand Herald around their 1970s modernist home which features a galley kitchen. For this style of kitchen, all units are arranged in a continuous line because of a lack of space. However, Ms McDonald and Mr Ringrose have ensured that the space is still a functional family room by using open shelving and the breakfast bar.The couple said that they were keen to retain the buildings original features which include stained wood joinery in the kitchen sink area and original stainless steel benches.Speaking about discovering the property during house-hunting, Ms McDonald said When we walked through the open houses we could hear people talking about ... changing the kitchen. We thought it was just perfect as it was. Interior designer Anjali Goel recently told Mydigitalfc.com that in homes with limited space, owners should buy small and easily moveable pieces of furniture to make better use of rooms.ADNFCR-1321-ID-19548320-ADNFCR
