Electroluxs Design Lab competition has focused on technology and social interaction this year - with several entries destined for kitchens of the future, Epi-Log has reported. Organisers of the themed contest running since 2003 chose the i-generation as this years topic to explore technology and modern living in the kitchen and beyond. Finalists in the competition included Stefan Buchbergers Cubby Flatshare Refrigerator, which comprises of several stackable fridges, finished in bright colours and with curved edges so housemates food can be separated easily. Another entry was Adam Brodowskis Sook, a wireless kitchen assistant. It can measure and weigh ingredients on or near its cutting board, suggests recipes based on them and can even taste the foods. The finished recipe can then be photographed and posted on social networking sites by the gadget, to enable the chef to share the dish with friends. While these accessories may be still some way off, homeowners can bring futuristic style and functionality to their kitchens with a food waste disposer or hot water filter tap, both from In-Sink-Erator.
