An interior designer created a natural, organic kitchen design by taking her inspiration from a tropical fish tank.Rebecca Reynolds told Kitchen and Bath Design News that the homeowners she was working for wanted to make the fish tank a focal point in the room because of their passion for diving.She said that the fish helped to determine the colour and texture choices in the kitchen and encouraged her to give the rest of the room a sense of movement and flow.To achieve this Ms Reynolds introduced subtle colour variations by installing stylish granite countertops.It has beautiful greens and blue-greens as a base, with muted pistachio green and bronze/copper veining throughout. When I found this granite, I knew it was complementary for the space and wouldnt compete with the fish tank, she told the source.Ms Reynolds enhanced this effect in the kitchen sink area by adding a mosaic tile backsplash that further sets off the blues and greens in the granite.For another recent innovative kitchen design, a couple told the Bulletin that they added a glass backsplash to achieve a reflective quality that suited their modernist home.
