A bid to ban plastic bottles from cities in Canada has led to a researcher making comments about technology for taps.Richard Girard from the Polaris Institute said water from taps was not trusted by some due to bottled-water manufacturers suggesting drinking shop-bought water was the only healthy way.We see bottled water as a redundant product. Its not needed. If people have concerns about chlorine in the water or other issues, there are filters that are designed to take that out, he said.Indeed, people who want stylish designs for their kitchen sinks can buy filter taps in a range of styles and colours that may complement water glasses. Other accessories available for kitchens include steaming hot water taps and waste disposal units like the In-Sink-Erator. According to the Daily Gleaner, citing information from the city council of London, Ontario, the production of bottled water requires 150 times more greenhouse gases than tap water. London has banned bottled water in all municipal buildings which have water fountains.
