An interior designer installed an extra-deep sink in the kitchen of a family home to make the room more functional for cooking tasks.Writing for the Seattle Times, decorator Candice Olson explained that prior to her renovation, all food preparation tasks in the cramped, dated kitchen had been carried out in a dark, awkward corner next to the sink.Ms Olson therefore fitted the new sink into a stylish central island, which was finished with a cream quartz countertop and contrasting espresso cabinetry. She also added a range of up-to-date appliances including double-decker convection ovens, a microwave and dishwasher while for the floor, Ms Olson used gorgeous eco-friendly cork. The floor needed to be comfortable and warm, yet tough to stand up to the familys wear and tear, she said.Writing for Deseret News this week, home remodel specialists Ann Robinson and Annie Vernon suggested that the most efficient and effective kitchen renovations occur where homeowners have already done a great deal of prior research.
