When designing a new kitchen it seems its not just cabinets, worktops and accessories people are thinking about.According to the Energy Saving Trust, more people are looking at buying environmentally-friendly appliances.Caroline Rams from the EST said that 69 per cent of Brits go out of their way to buy green products. She added people seem keen to make more of an effort to do their bit to help the environment.Energy-efficient fridge-freezers can cut electricity bills by an estimated 350 over the lifetime of the appliance.Meanwhile an energy-efficient washing machine can run on two-thirds less electricity than a standard model and it uses less water.Every appliance being sold in the EU must display an energy-rating label. This rates a products efficiency from A to G, with A being the most environmentally-friendly.It is claimed an A-rated appliance uses about half the power consumed by a G-rated model.
