Energy-efficient kitchen lights help cut bills by 60 Percent

Installing energy-efficient light bulbs in the kitchen could help homeowners make drastic savings on their electricity bills, it has been suggested. Writing for the Guardian, Alok Jha noted that the lighting in his house accounted for 28 per cent of his total energy use and more than half of his electricity charges, but he was able to cut 60 per cent from the latter by switching to low-energy options. At home, I had a mixture of incandescent bulbs rated from 20 to 100 watts. The kitchen alone had seven reflector bulbs at 50 watts each, he remarked. According to Mr Jha, while low-energy choices for some types of kitchen lighting may be rarer, they are becoming more available in DIY shops across the UK and those really having trouble locating suitable bulbs can find specialist suppliers online.Interior architect Alicia Silvia, contributing to the Seattle P-I blog, recently noted that green lighting can lead to 1,500 per cent savings over 25 years.ADNFCR-1321-ID-19378573-ADNFCR
