Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs), the home energy efficient ratings to accompany new Home Information Packs (Hips), have seen their roll-out made subject to delays.Under new plans, EPCs for most public and commercial buildings will now not be made available until later in 2008 with many properties waste and emissions levels set to remain uncalculated till then.A new timetable laid out by the government will see exemption from EPCs remain in place until October 2008 for the construction, sale or rent of buildings with floor area exceeding 2,500 m2.When all properties are finally brought into the reach of EPCs, property owners will be provided with key information on how to cut their waste a key issue with 27 per cent of carbon emissions coming from homes. An EPC expert told Building.co.uk of his disappointment at the delays The Government will have to change the law to get this through. Its clear they are not ready to implement the certificates.Homeowners and those responsible for larger commercial builders are advised by Hips and EPCs on how to reduce carbon emissions, with roof insulation, double glazed windows and kitchen waste often targeted by the packs.ADNFCR-1321-ID-18338857-ADNFCR
