East Durham Homes confirms 20m home improvement package

Homeowners in East Durham are set to benefit from new sink accessories after a home improvement package was announced by East Durham Homes (EDH). EDH has confirmed that it will spend 19.9 million on renovating properties from in 2011 and 2012, which will enable 1,000 homes to be improved and modernised, reports the Peterlee Mail. Glyn Hall, the councils head of housing, told the newspaper Although this is not the full amount of money we had asked for from the government, we are delighted that we are able to go ahead with a major improvement programme. The plan will allow the council to invest in hundreds of East Durham homes, Mr Hall added. LeaderLive.co.uk has reported that a kitchen modernisation scheme has been confirmed for council homes in Wrexham. The local authority will spend 1.2 million on refurbishing kitchens in the area, with elderly residents taking priority.
