There is already a chill in the air, so kitchen enthusiasts may welcome suggestions from the Energy Saving Trust on how to keep homes warm.A snug kitchen can be achieved by fitting draft proofing under doors, in window frames, keyholes and letterboxes and could save 25 a year on heating bills, the trusts energy doctor Paula Owen said.Sewing thermal linings onto curtains and making draught-stoppers are DIY techniques that can also help keep kitchens cosy, she indicated. Ms Owen also urged homeowners to install cavity wall insulation as about half of a homes heat is lost through walls and the loft.Cavity wall insulation is one of the most cost-effective energy efficiency measures you can take in the home, as it can save you around 120 each year on your heating bill, she said. For a stylish kitchen that looks good all year round, try traditional products such as ceramic and wood. Astracast ceramic sinks like the Belfast design can look great with wooden work surfaces, whether it is used to prepare a Christmas dinner or summer strawberry jam.
