People have been reminded that pouring oil and many other substances down the kitchen sink can result in long-term problems for the sink.In addition, the environment is not helped as the greasy deposits of cooking oil can clop up the waterways.Elizabeth Martinez, an environmental planner, wrote in the Ventura County Star that oil is also likely to stop the flow of water down to the drain.She stated I can hear my mother now Dont pour used cooking oil down the kitchen sink, itll clog your drain.Hot water will eventually cool down in the pipes, causing fats, oil and grease to coagulate and attach to the inner linings of the home plumbing system.Instead, keeping a container such as an old coffee tin under the sink and pouring excess liquid waste into this can result in kitchen sinks lasting longer and the environment being treated more kindly.Ms Martinez also urged people not to pour oil into the bin as it is likely to leak through bags.
