Discreetly hidden kitchen appliances will be a major design trend for 2013, particularly those fronted with the same material as kitchen cabinets. This trend is also likely to go beyond cabinet material camouflage, with an increased emphasis on small or unusual appliances such as under-counter or mini refrigerators. The emphasis will be on the compact, to provide as much kitchen space as possible. Kitchen design will also continue to favour modern styles rather than traditional. Next year will also see a bigger move towards all over lighting, continued popularity of the kitchen island, glass back splashes, natural colour schemes and eco-friendly materials.
