The director of Sex and the City 2 opted for a retro feel in the home kitchen of lead character Carrie Bradshaw, it has been revealed.Michael Patrick King told the Sydney Morning Herald that his production team had wanted to convey Carries perception of her new life with husband Big in the New York apartment set.The fun for me and the design team was to figure out how Carrie would interpret her and Big as a couple, he said. Its not Carrie Bradshaw - her redecorated apartment at the end of the last movie was all colour and feminine, like a little girls bedroom. And its not Bigs bachelor apartment either, which was sort of modern and shark-like.It was also suggested that set decorator Lydia Marks had been inspired by the sets of old Hollywood movies such as Alfred Hitchcocks thrillers, with the retro kitchen featuring an Ercol-style dining set as its centrepiece, complemented by dark wood units and aqua-blue wall tiles.Last week, it was revealed that a Franke kitchen sink was used to add a modern and functional touch to an award winning kitchen design by renovator Vasi Ypsilantis.
