Designer reveals quirky kitchen

Written Renowned French designer Matali Crasset has revealed that her passion for innovative interiors is prevalent in both her home and work life.In an interview with the Telegraph, the artist explained that her home is used as both a studio and a living space, with the kitchen featuring open shelves that stretch up to the ceiling.The shelves offer a view on to the rest of the living area, which was renovated by Crasset and her studio manager husband. The idea was to have no walls, the designer told the newspaper.Stainless steel is the material of choice for the kitchen and is not only used for the sink and taps, but for work surfaces, cabinets and appliances.Commenting on the extensive renovation of the apartment which is housed in a former print works in Paris Crasset said The site was very rough when we moved in. Each apartment was a shell and we fitted it out ourselves. It was a big change from our previous home a seventh-floor apartment near Bastille with a birds-eye view of the Eiffel Tower.Matali Crasset is regarded as one of Europes best contemporary designers and has previously collaborated with Philippe Starck.
