An interior designer chose to paint her home kitchen in neutral tones to ensure that the room could be quickly and easily changed.Maria Fenlon told the Irish Sunday Independent that selecting the right colours was a primary concern for her kitchen. I prefer to use a neutral backdrop so that the mood can be easily changed by adding different accent colours, warm rich shades in the winter and cooler fresher tones in the summer, she said. This neutral space was created by using travertine marble on the floor and by painting the walls and units white, the newspaper noted. In addition, Ms Fenlon ensured that the room would be a functional cooking space by installing Smeg electrical appliances, an abundance of storage units and a large, central island.According to a recent survey of interior designers by Metro Canada, kitchen appliances will increasingly feature stark colours like pumpkin and chocolate. These will offset the plainer tones of other features like stainless steel kitchen sinks, the newspaper found.
