A new report from Norwich and Peterborough Building Society (NP) has found that green concerns are not a key factor in house-building projects for the majority of people. Asked what they would include if given the chance to build a house from scratch, most people cited designer kitchens and en-suite bathrooms as the most important features, while environmentally friendly home improvements trailed below. The report prompted the Renewable Energy Centre to claim that the surveys findings were consistent with the UKs general approach to home energy efficiency, which media hype has done little to change.Richard Simmons, managing director of the Renewable Energy Centre, said Changing peoples mindset is simply too hard. People understand the need for energy saving but will not put their own hand into their pocket to achieve it.But many UK homeowners are already integrating sought-after designer kitchens with green measures top manufacturers such as InSinkErator offer sink waste disposal units and waste compactors that play a big role in cutting landfill deposits.Meanwhile Franke equips many of its taps with aerators, ensuring that home tap-water use is not excessive, while adding to the feel of a designer kitchen with sleek and modern styling.
