The kitchen is becoming a hotbed for accidents in the home, a new survey has found.Research from AA Insurance noted that culinary clumsiness is causing many people in the UK to lose money. The firm found that nine out of ten homeowners admitted to mishaps in the kitchen, which are costing on average 100 per year.In addition, people have to buy new kitchen sink accessories and other items to replace broken objects, with glass topping the pile accounting for more than half of all breakages. However, more people are staying in to cook in their kitchens, with more than 46 per cent of respondents claiming to be eating at home more often.Simon Douglas, director of AA Insurance, commented that the amount of entertaining being done in the home is clearly increasing and added that Brits are clearly becoming more conscious about spending money eating out.AA Insurance also discovered that more than one third of Brits are trying to fix practical problems in the home themselves.
