The publics interest in domestic microgeneration technologies has risen substantially in recent times due to the popularity of solar photovoltaics, it has been claimed. One of the other reasons behind this increase in awareness is the governments feed-in tariff, which has proven to be a phenomenally successful method to encourage homeowners to introduce solar technologies to their homes and sink accessories, according to a representative from HomeSun. Daniel Green, chief executive officer at the company, said My view is that solar PV [photovoltaic] is the first residential renewable offer which has really worked in the last 20 years and literally thousands of people are taking up the opportunity. The publics interest has exploded in microgeneration, which it never has before. Earlier this month, the coalition announced new details regarding the Green Deal, revealing that the scheme may cover measures which generate energy in addition to energy efficiency measures.
