Consider alternative kitchen sink materials

Choosing the right kitchen sink is a conundrum baffling many homeowners, but Ideal Home Magazine has offered some tips throwing an interesting choice of materials into the mix.The publication reviewed the pros and cons of more traditional sink materials such as stainless steel and ceramic, but also introduced sink shoppers to the advantages of Corian, a material normally used for countertops. As a thermosetting plastic, Corian can be moulded into diverse shapes and can thus feature in sinks that are seamlessly joined to the worktop avoiding a brash sink design that contrasts in colour and finish with the unit it is seated in.As well as being available in over 70 colours, the solid surface material was said to be highly stain resistant and durable, remaining easy to clean with soapy water.Even more unusual options put forward were copper sinks and wooden models made of teak, which contains natural oils that repel water and keep the sink in tip-top shape.Among more traditional models Ideal Home Magazine recommended composite sinks for their easy to clean finish, singling out the Astracast Lausanne Sink as a prime example of a top composite choice.
