Adding colour to your kitchen can make it an uplifting place to spend time in, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.The newspaper states homeowners Sing and S K Lo were happy with their neutral kitchen.However, when a refrigerator leak ruined the floor, they decided to take the opportunity to do something completely different.Kitchen designer Shannon Nelsen added bright orange-red cabinets and rearranged the layout for maximum efficiency.Commenting on the colour, Ms Lo told the Star Tribune Every time I come into the kitchen, it makes me happy.Ms Nelson said she took inspiration from east Asia as Mr and Mrs Lo are from Hong Kong where the colour is particularly popular.Her finishing touches included new lighting, red accessories and engineered stone countertops.Elsewhere, designer Ellen Cheever has claimed a visit to the EuroCucina Fair in Milan highlighted the fact the kitchen has become more than just a room you cook in.
