Christmas fair may promote sustainable kitchen items

The Centre for Alternative Technology (CAT) has announced details of a Christmas fair aimed at offering homeowners ideas for cutting down on waste during the Christmas period.Taking place on December 4th-5th in Powys, Wales, the event will also provide ideas for presents and activities that are cheap and sustainable.Kim Bryan, a spokeswoman for CAT, said The idea we are trying to promote is one of a green ethical Christmas. Christmas is a very important time of year for family and friends, but it doesnt have to cost the earth when you are celebrating it.She added that there is still a long way to go before Christmas becomes an occasion that does not have such a detrimental impact on the environment.The news follows a recent article for the Scripps Howard News Service by interior designer Rosemary Sadez Friedmann, who argued that homeowners can reduce their water consumption by upgrading kitchen taps.
