Chefs are increasingly turning to simpler kitchen tools, according to one New York Times food writer.Mark Bittman said that chefs generally go for everyday cookware for their kitchens despite having state-of-the-art equipment on show when in public view.Cooks, it seems, are increasingly opting for essential kitchen gadgets which are not overpriced and tend to last for years. One businessman, who have recently launched a new firm selling inexpensive, quality kitchenware said that he launch the brand because he struggled with the huge range of kitchen gadgets available on the market. I looked around and noticed that the everyday cook generally has two options when shopping for kitchen equipment - buy overpriced status symbols, or settle for inexpensive junk, he said. However, some chefs admit that they can be inspired by kitchen gadgets which can make cooking a meal simpler and faster. One of the more bizarre kitchen gadgets on offer are onion goggles to protect the eyes from watering while chopping.
