Charting electricity use becoming more popular

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

More people are choosing to check the amount of electricity they are using in their kitchens and throughout their homes by using a smart meter, the National Home Improvement Council has said.According Andrew Leech of the organisation, homeowners are increasingly likely to try to reduce the amount of power they use.More and more householders are also realising the benefits of having a smart meter installed to tell them at any time just how much energy they are consuming, he added. Mr Leech said people can then take action to limit that energy. Smart meters often show energy consumption in real-time, so lovers of cooking can easily see how much electricity their blenders, microwaves, kettles and toasters use. Lighting kitchens can also use a lot of electricity the Energy Saving Trust has said 1.9 billion is spent in the UK on lighting homes. Homeowners keen to use more eco-friendly gadgets may be interested in fitting a food waste disposer to their sink area, which reduces kitchen waste by disposing of it down the drain.
