A campaign has been launched to persuade the Government to cut VAT levels on new sink and tap installations, kitchen upgrades and other home improvement works. The Cut the Vat Coalition believes that reducing VAT to 5 per cent for all maintenance and home improvement work would help cut carbon emissions and get rid of cowboy builders. It also believes that such a move would help homeowners who cannot afford vital repairs and bring empty properties back into use.The campaign also states that a VAT reduction would help businesses in the home improvement industry.
