Home design specialists have claimed that reworking a kitchen must involve a shrewd choice of cabinets, ensuring that they will go well with sinks, cookers and other key appliances.Kitchen and Bath Design News (KBDN) said that cabinet choice required style considerations, but also highlighted the ethical motivations that could drive cabinet and cupboard selections.Designers said that it was not worth homeowners making green or health-conscious choices ranging from sink waste disposal units to low energy ventilation systems only to buy wooden cabinetry that has not been sourced through sound environmental practices.Explaining that more and more people were interested in health and green kitchen issues, designer Patricia Gaylor told KBDN that the reins of responsibility should be taken by the home experts helping with plans. Its our social responsibility, as designers, to maintain the movement. Its our responsibility to our clients to demand more green products. Its especially important in the kitchen and bath when specifying certified woods and hardwoods, she said.People revamping kitchens often choose the most affordable options and may not be aware of how cabinet material is sourced, but simple products such as Frankes Triflow tap purification system or In-Sink-Erators waste compactor are making green and health-conscious kitchen design a more mainstream possibility.
