Burnham-on-sea suffers mains burst

Posted by Sinks on 27th Jun 2017

Many kitchen taps in the Burnham-on-sea region are not releasing water due to a water mains burst. The Reeds Arms pub has been forced into closure as a result of the incident, while the Victoria Hotel is providing a limited service and some public toilets have been closed, reports Burnham-on-sea.com. In addition, the Cottage Cafe in College Street has temporarily shut down. Jeremy Williams, Bristol Water spokesman, told the website The burst water main has been isolated. Excavation and repair work has begun but it will take most of the day, given the size of the main. Ground movement triggered by the current dry weather conditions may have led to the mains burst, Mr Williams believes. Derby newspaper the Sunday Telegraph recently revealed that a 2.7 million funding package has been provided for Markeaton Primary school, which will use the cash to improve and build new kitchen features.
