People in the UK are choosing to use their kitchen taps more as they look to live more sustainable lifestyles, a survey has found.Self-sufficiency is currently a popular trend, due to increased environmental awareness and the pressures of the economic downturn.This is leading Brits to search for solutions that can cover both of these areas, with tap water being one of these, according to Egg research.It found that more than one third of people (36 per cent) have decided to switch from buying bottled water to drinking tap water.Patrick Muir, spokesperson at Egg.com, compared this trend for saving money and the environment in the kitchen to classic 1970s sitcom the Good Life.He added Its interesting to see that people across the country are going back to basics and adopting imaginative do-it-yourself savings techniques.Simple habits and a simple life are replacing luxuries, and a can do attitude is coming to the fore.Three Valleys Water recently started eco-friendly initiative to get people to integrate more green measures into their water use.
