More and more homeowners are turning to professional to undertake home improvement projects, it has been revealed.People spend 5.6 billion per year on hiring experts to complete jobs such as fitting a new kitchen sink, a survey by Home has revealed.The TV channels study found that a quarter of people have not attempted a single DIY project in 2010.Common jobs that homeowners call in tradesmen for included fixing a leaky kitchen tap.According to the survey, the average toolbox contains contents worth 340, but the majority of respondents did not know how to use power tools.Clare Laycock, head of the Home channel, said Its staggering how much cash we spend on simple household tasks that could be spent elsewhere.AA Home Rescue has argued that homeowners should be encouraged to take on basic projects themselves.Sue Beeson, spokeswoman for the home emergency service, said Being able to put up a picture hook ... putting up a shelf ... all those sorts of things most people would be able to do.
