British and Irish most likely to do own DIY

A new Europe-wide survey by the owners of BQ Ireland has revealed that UK and Irish homeowners are most likely to do home improvement and DIY. Whilst many homeowners upgrade their homes to add value to their properties, most of those in the Irish survey group said they made improvements to refresh the home. The British and Irish are also the keenest gardeners. Over a quarter of Irish surveyed have started growing their own vegetables. Overall the survey showed that nine out of ten households improve their homes in some way and is a bigger priority than holidays when deciding where to spend money. Painting and decorating is the most popular improvement activity. The survey also showed tthat fifty two percent of home owners plan to live in their home for at least ten years reflecting the economic circumstances and the desire to have a better home to enjot and improve the quality of life.BQ surveyed 15,000 householders attitudes to home improvement, with those taking part based in France, Germany, the UK, Ireland, Poland, Turkey, Spain, and Russia.
