An interior designer won an award for an innovative kitchen renovation by expanding the room and adding a second sink.Kristen Dunbar received the Best Before and After design accolade at awards held by the National Kitchen and Bath Association in the US, KearneyHub.com reported. Before the project, the homeowners, Elizabeth and Darren Wiens, had shown Ms Dunbar a series of magazine articles and photos to help her get an idea of the design they wanted.One of the couples major concerns was to have more kitchen space, so Ms Dunbar removed a wall and combined two rooms to make one large kitchen. She also added a second kitchen sink to help with food preparation tasks.That prep sink has been so nice to have for cutting vegetables, and the kids love to help, said Ms Wiens.Elsewhere in the room, Ms Dunbar installed a 15-foot-long island which features cupboards, drawers and retractable spice and glassware racks.
