Kitchen designers and architects may witness a rise in the demand for green kitchens as research shows that more homeowners want a kitchen with in-built energy efficiency.According to Ikea, not only do homeowners want a kitchen that will allow them to produce organic natural food and encourage a home grown attitude, they also want products and furniture that use reclaimed and recycled materials.Carole Reddish, deputy managing director of Ikea UK Ireland, commented We think that the economy, social changes, concerns for our health and especially the environment will greatly influence kitchen design in the future. The Ikea survey asked 1,895 respondents in the UK about their must-have features for the kitchen for the year 2040.Meanwhile, Alison Coleman, marketing manager at Magnet, recently argued that everyone is becoming more and more environmentally conscious and this is reflected in every purchase for the home.Earlier this week, appliance manufacturer Kenmore claimed that fixtures like kitchen sinks and taps should maximise the available space in the room.
